Sweet Wheat truly feels like a slice of Paris in Redondo Beach. From the charming ambiance to the delicious pastries, it’s an authentic French bakery experience.
We tried the apricot tartlet, chocolate mousse, and chocolate éclair - all rich, delicate, and beautifully made. The Wagyu short rib panini and smoked salmon croissant were equally impressive and full of flavor.
The shaded outdoor seating with soft background music added to the European café feel. A must-visit for anyone craving a taste of France!

This is a nice, charming coffee shop by the ocean with tasty French bites. It’s clean, has friendly service with menu prices a little bit on the high side.
Dietary restrictions: The items are clearly labeled with allergen information. It makes it so much easier and safer to choose what to eat without guessing.
Parking: There’s a small lot behind the shop and some street parking, though it can be tough to find a spot when it’s busy.
Kid‑friendly: They have stylish highchairs (without seat buckles) and not much space inside for kids to move around, but the terrace feels more kid‑friendly.
Outdoor seating: The outside area is lovely with a nice ocean breeze, but it can get windy at times or a bit noisy from the nearby road.

The pastries here are amazing. Beautiful, edible, pieces of absolute French pastry mastery!!! You can taste all of the prep work and passion that goes into every piece too! Simply divine. I pick up now and then, and try different pastries. I gathered my twin 16 year old boys early before school on their birthday. They were kicking rocks, hands in pockets, heads down. It's their Bday. Why do they we have to wake up early? This isn't fair Dad. They're stares were like knives into the back of my neck as I came out of the pits and onto the race track known as The Morning Rush on PCH. When walked into a friendly greeting and the aroma of heaven... those frowns quickly turned around.
There are still so many I haven't tried yet. I love the Almond Croissants, the French Toast, and the macarons. I was bummed because Peets has closed down next door. I was thinking I'm picking up some delights, and then I'll get a coffee from Peet's.......
Check this out.......they sell lattes, cappuccino, and a nice offering of espresso drinks. My Mocha latte was on point!🤌
If you balk about prices being high. Then you are a "Stupid American"! You have no idea of the scope of work that goes into each and every piece.
Once I make my way thru the patesrie I will move on to breakfast sandwiches, and the lunch menu. Quiche, smoke salmon dishes, and of course the Parisian staple, the sandwich that's even available in the Tobacs. The ham and Swiss, (or a soft creamy white cheese), on a house made baguette.
I can guarantee every single thing in this place is made from scratch. It's sublime.

This bakery has quickly become one of my favorite places for breakfast, coffee, or a quick lunch. The selection is impressive, with a wide variety of pastries, artisan breads, sandwiches, and desserts that are consistently fresh and beautifully prepared.
What sets this place apart is the quality of the ingredients. Everything tastes rich, authentic, and made with care. The pastries have that classic French bakery texture—light, flaky, buttery, and full of flavor. Every item I've tried has tasted freshly baked, even when visiting later in the day.
The atmosphere is another reason I keep coming back. The café is clean, comfortable, and inviting, with plenty of seating to enjoy your meal at a relaxed pace. The staff is always welcoming, patient, and happy to help with recommendations.
A few standout items are the almond croissants and some of their specialty cookies, which are absolutely worth trying. Whether you're stopping in for a pastry, a loaf of bread, or a sandwich, it's hard to leave disappointed. Add in the convenient parking and pleasant environment, and you have a bakery that delivers a genuine French café experience every time.

Service was welcoming , food is delicious . Overall excellent!I definitely felt as though I had been transported back to France ( been there a few times). There is a small parking lot in back. I stopped by on a Sunday morning &suggest arriving early as it does get quite busy . Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area !

Sweet Wheat is the real deal. Walking in feels like being in a French bakery straight out of Paris. The display is huge and packed with fresh pastries and breads that all look incredible, and somehow they taste even better.
The prices are very reasonable, the staff is genuinely warm and welcoming.
This is the kind of neighborhood spot that Redondo Beach is lucky to have.
